Nature trail | Outdoor museum

The Nature Trail is a 2.5 km outdoor museum that winds its way through a magical forest. There are nine stations with objects that describe forestry from the past – rafting, charring and bog mowing.

An interesting history and nature experience about how forestry and iron production came about.

Follow the history of forestry with the help of information boards, tools and buildings.

Between the lakes Dammen and Grycken there is a 2.5 km long nature trail in easy terrain. The trail is partly newly paved and starts at the upper end of Lake Dammen, about 1 km from the parking lot at the campsite . Parking and an information board are available at the start.

Along the path there is – in addition to work equipment, a charcoal hut and a place for charcoal burning – a forest workers' village with stables and a fire pit hut for overnight stays .

Lindesnäs Mill

As early as 1793, a nail forge was established here, producing scythes, horseshoes and, of course, nails. Between 1854 and 1855, two Lancashire hearths were installed in the bar iron forge, and for a while there were plans to concentrate all of Bergslaget's iron handling to Lindesnäs. To improve transport from the mill, a railway connection to the nearby Lövsjö mill was planned. When it was never realised, the mill began to lose its importance, and in 1895 operations ceased completely.

What remains of the mill are ruins of forges, a foundry, a mill and the foundations of a sawmill. There are plenty of slag stone ruins in Bergslagen, and those in Lindesnäs are neither the largest nor the most beautiful. Still, it is a nice stop on the way. There is a small mill museum , and in the summer there is a restaurant in the preserved manor house .
